Eligibility for Associate Membership for Ophthalmologists

The International Orthoptic Association (IOA) welcomes ophthalmologists and allied eye care professionals as Associate Members to promote collaboration and strengthen the global delivery of eye care. The following criteria apply:

   • Applicants must be qualified ophthalmologists or medical professionals actively engaged in the field of ophthalmology with a demonstrated interest in orthoptics.

2. National Representation

   • Only one representative per country may hold an Associate Membership for ophthalmologists. If multiple individuals apply, the IOA encourages a unified decision regarding representation.

3. Commitment to Orthoptics

   • Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to:
     • Promoting the role of orthoptists in clinical practice.
     • Supporting education, research, and professional development within the orthoptic community.

4. Alignment with IOA Goals

   • Applicants must agree to uphold the IOA’s mission of advancing high standards of orthoptic care and fostering collaboration across eye care professions.

Application Process

To apply for Associate Membership for Ophthalmologists, applicants must:

1. Submit an Application Form: Include professional qualifications, current role, and interest in orthoptics.
2. Provide Supporting Documentation:
   • Proof of qualifications as an ophthalmologist.
   • A statement of interest outlining how you plan to support and collaborate with the IOA.
3. Review and Approval: Applications will be reviewed by the IOA Council to ensure alignment with IOA goals and values.
