About IOA Membership
The International Orthoptic Association (IOA) is the leading global organization representing orthoptists and advocating for the advancement of the profession. As part of the 2023–2027 Strategic Plan, the IOA is committed to strengthening international collaboration, promoting high standards of education and practice, and supporting professional growth.
Membership in the IOA unites national associations, individual orthoptists, and allied professionals under a shared vision: to ensure excellence in eye care through the science and practice of orthoptics.
Membership Categories
The IOA offers several membership options to meet the needs of national organizations and individuals:
- Full Membership: For established national orthoptic associations that meet IOA’s standards for education, practice, and governance.
- Associate Membership: For national associations that are in the process of meeting full membership requirements.
- Individual Membership: For qualified orthoptists who do not have a national association or wish to engage directly with the IOA.
- Individual Associate Membership: For ophthalmologists or other allied professionals supporting orthoptic advancement.
