Your Contribution Makes a Global Impact
General Information
Thank you for considering a gift to the International Orthoptic Association (IOA)! As a non-governmental, charitable organization registered with the Charity Commission of the United Kingdom (registration #1122060), the IOA relies on the generosity of its members, supporters, and partners to fund its special projects. Incorporated as a non-profit corporation under English Law (UK Company Act), the IOA is committed to ensuring that 100% of donations go directly to programs, with no percentage used for administrative expenses.
Many people may not know that the IOA Officers and Council of Management members are volunteers who give their time and expertise at no cost to the organization. The IOA is currently funded through national association and individual membership subscriptions. However, there are frequent requests for assistance that the IOA cannot fully meet due to limited resources. Your donations will help bridge this gap by supporting education, scholarships, grants, volunteer programs, and the advancement of orthoptic science worldwide.
To learn more about the IOA’s exciting initiatives, we encourage you to explore the IOA Strategic Plan under the Profile section of this website.

To make a tribute gift:
- Contact IOA Treasurer at treasurer@internationalorthoptics.org.
- Upon receipt of your donation, a gift notification card will be sent to the honoree or their family, and you will receive a charitable tax receipt with a letter of thanks.
3. Bequests and Planned Giving
One of the most thoughtful ways to support the IOA’s long-term mission is through planned giving. A planned gift ensures that the IOA can continue to advance orthoptics globally and touch lives for years to come. Options include:
- Bequests: A gift made in your will.
- Annuities: Donations in the form of stocks and securities.
- Life Insurance: Naming the IOA as a beneficiary.
- Endowments: Contributions held in perpetuity, with interest or income used for IOA programs.
- Monthly Giving: Pre-authorized, regular contributions.
Consultation: Tax laws and legislation regarding planned giving vary across countries and are subject to change. Please consult your financial and legal advisors to determine the best option for your circumstances.
