Collaboration and Membership
The IOA maintains strong relationships with international ophthalmic and orthoptic organizations to advance vision care globally. As a collaborative and globally connected body, the IOA works alongside partners to address challenges in pediatric ophthalmology, strabismus care, and orthoptic education.
The IOA is a supranational member of the International Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Council (IPOSC). By virtue of IPOSC’s membership in the International Council of Ophthalmology (ICO), the IOA also holds membership in this distinguished global body.
The IOA is also a proud member of the World Society of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (WSPOS) and actively participates in its Global Advisory Council, contributing expertise to improve outcomes for children with vision impairments worldwide.
Furthermore, the IOA has enjoyed a long-standing and supportive relationship with the International Strabismological Association (ISA). In 2014, the IOA and ISA formalized this partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to ensure structured communication and proactive collaboration. This agreement enables both organizations to work cohesively to best serve the patients entrusted to their care.
