About Us

A Global Voice for Orthoptics

The International Orthoptic Association (IOA) is the global organization representing orthoptists and the orthoptic profession. Founded in 1967, the IOA works to unite orthoptists worldwide, promote the science of orthoptics, and advance the role of orthoptists within eye care.

As a charitable, non-profit organization, the IOA is dedicated to improving patient care by supporting education, research, and professional development. Through a network of national associations, individual members, and global partnerships, the IOA fosters collaboration, drives innovation, and ensures the highest standards of orthoptic practice.

Our mission is to provide a platform for knowledge exchange, professional growth, and international cooperation. We believe in the critical role orthoptists play in diagnosing and managing binocular vision disorders and other ocular conditions, improving the lives of patients worldwide.

Together, we celebrate the diversity, expertise, and commitment of orthoptists around the globe, working towards a future where high-quality orthoptic care is accessible to all.
