This is a significant achievement for ALOD and a major step in strengthening the orthoptic profession in Luxembourg on the global stage.

About ALOD
The Association Luxembourgeoise des Orthoptistes Diplômés represents the orthoptic professionals in Luxembourg and has shown remarkable dedication to promoting vision care. ALOD focuses on interdisciplinary collaboration, working closely with ophthalmologists, pediatricians, neurologists, and specialists supporting children with learning disabilities. Their efforts emphasize the importance of integrating orthoptic examinations into routine medical practice to ensure comprehensive patient care.

Milestone Initiatives

  • World Orthoptic Day 2024: ALOD successfully organized their first WOD event, attracting around 90 healthcare professionals from diverse specialties. The evening featured presentations about orthoptic work across different centers in Luxembourg, highlighting the value of orthoptic care and its role in early diagnosis and treatment. A video address by the Luxembourg Health Minister underscored the event’s importance and the state’s recognition of orthoptics.

  • Regular Member Engagement: ALOD fosters professional growth by organizing regular member meetings to discuss challenging clinical cases and improve cooperation within the orthoptic community.

Benefits of IOA Membership for ALOD
As an IOA associate member, ALOD now gains access to:

  • Global Networking: Connections with orthoptic professionals worldwide to exchange knowledge and best practices.
  • Educational and Research Resources: Participation in IOA webinars, access to international guidelines, and opportunities for joint research initiatives.
  • International Representation: A stronger voice in the global orthoptic community to promote orthoptic care in Luxembourg and beyond.
  • Visibility: Enhanced recognition of ALOD’s activities, such as their WOD initiatives, through IOA communications and global platforms.

The IOA is thrilled to support ALOD’s mission to advance orthoptics in Luxembourg and contribute to global standards of vision care. We look forward to collaborating closely with ALOD and seeing their continued growth and success.
