Congratulations to the winners of the IOA’s World Orthoptic Day 2020 Photography Contest! First place was awarded to Heena Patel (British and Irish Orthoptic Society), 2nd place to Alick Tsui (The Canadian Orthoptic Society), and 3rd place to Cheryl McCarus (American Association of Certified Orthoptists). Their photos will be used in promotions throughout the year.
The winning photos fittingly represented this year’s theme: Orthoptists on the Front Lines of Eye Care! Orthoptists are “essential workers” and are often the first person on the Eye Care Team to examine the patient. These photos demonstrate that orthoptists are clever, innovative, and approach the challenges of health care during a pandemic with flexibility and a sense of humor!
